Here are two surprising facts about designer homewares.
They're not just for those with fancy, luxurious homes
Many homeowners with nice but average-looking homes don't buy themselves any designer homewares, not because they don't want them but because they're convinced that these type of homeware items are only suitable for properties that are highly luxurious. As a result of this assumption, they think that if they were to decorate their homes with designer goods, these items would seem out of place in their normal-looking houses or apartments.
This is not at all true. Designer homewares can be used in any residential setting, no matter how inexpensive or plain its interior is. In fact, the gorgeous decorative objects which designer homeware companies sell are often easier to notice and appreciate when they're in a room where there are no other similarly-striking items that are competing with them for the attention of the room's occupants.
Furthermore, if a homeowner would like their average-looking home to be a bit fancier, but they cannot afford to install a fancy bathroom or marble floors, then putting a smattering of lovely designer objects on their home's walls, shelves and tables is a very effective way to add a subtle touch of opulence to it without having to rack up any large credit card bills.
They make great housewarming gifts (even if the gift givers are budget-conscious)
Many budget-conscious people who've been invited to their loved ones' housewarming parties don't get these people designer homeware objects; instead, they usually end up purchasing items, such as cheap little houseplants or ceramic ornaments, that are not that useful to the recipients.
This is a shame, as designer decorative items can be great housewarming gifts, even in situations where the gift givers are on small budgets. The reason for this is as follows; most people who have recently moved into a home and are still trying to furnish and decorate it would much prefer, for example, one gorgeous designer footstool rather than twenty cheap knick-knacks and houseplants.
As such, it would be much better for all of the people who've been invited to the housewarming party to put their money together and give their friend one designer item. This should not cost each person much more than the amount they would have spent when buying their own individual, inexpensive present; however, this gift is much more likely to please and to be of use to the recipient.
